When a member joins AVYC (and whenever they wish afterwards..see below) they are offered the opportunity to tell the club a little about themselves, their boat, favorite body of water (f.b.w.) and their favorite water activity (It's completely optional). About 60% of our members opt to fill in the form and tell us about their love of the water.

Boats Owned: AM Skiier, Cliper Craft, Lazer, Game Fisher, West Marine Inflatable, always lookign for the next one! Volunteer Member: wayne I own a small sailboat, a sunflower 3.3. Enjoy sailing it on Lake Winnipeg. Volunteer Member: Capt. Steve My wife and first mate, Shannon and I have a 52' Harbor Master at Hale's Bar Marina,( in Jasper, TN on the TN River. Our boat's name is Shameless 1. We bought our boat in June 2006 and travelled from KY Lake to our current destination over 300 miles. Our goal is to travel the great loop in the next couple of years. We are looking forward to this long trip. Volunteer Member: Ed Lake Tulloch in Calaveras County near Copperopolis is where we finally settled for the last 30 years with our 3rd ski boat. This is a truly family R&R spot where our grown children and their children can get away and play on/in the water. Mostly skiing, wakeboarding and fishing are the main activities. Member: : Melody Member's Comment: My husband and I are in our early 30's and have been married 10 years. We own a 36' Regal 360 commodore 1989 cabin cruiser. We live in Ohio and dock it at lake Erie. Our two daughters love to go and fish we typically go every weekend. My husband and I are in the process of looking for a larger cabin cruiser to redo for our retirement some day. My husband has also recently started a canvas shop on the side. He has already has a few jobs lined up but if anybody knows of any jobs near us let us know. I love this site it is the best!!!!!
Volunteer Member: Mary Hello Captain Jim Kearney: Your club sounds like a lot of fun! I just found you by a google search. I'd like to learn more about volunteering. I enjoy the northern and southern waters. Now that the good weather is here, I want to get out on the water. My dad was a merchant merine and I grew up with a natural love for the sea. I have family in the the US Coast Gaurd. Look forward to hereing from you.
Mary, as you went through the member process you hopefully found out what type of volunteering we sponsor. Safety first is encouraged by becoming a leader on your lake in boating safety. You can, of course, do it formally through a Yacht or boating club and serving on its safety panel or board or you can just stay aware and report possible problems and then lead by example. Then have fun! Send pictures for the Activity page, send a good joke, get you free email address etc.
my name is grady.i would like a responce to my posting that i put in last week .The boat is a 1960 lone star cabin cruiser 22ft.i need all the information that i can get on this boat .When it was made,how many were produced,a picture,how many hps on the motor,what the motor mount looked like,were i can find parts,engin mount,windsheild,how the boat looked when it came off the show room floor.This would be a real big help. Thank you very much,grady Member: Helio I have been around boats my whole life and there is no better way to go down to the sea for a day sail and fun and jokes because when the captain is happy the crew is happy errr. I sail and kayak in New England RI MA Member: Grady I have a 22ft Lonestar cabin cruiser that was made in 1960.This boat is in very good shape.The inside is all orignal.The lights work ,all of the windows are orignal. I purchased it in 2001 for 500.00 with a tandum axel trailer.I had no idea when the boat was made,but have fell in love with this boat.All i can think about is one day i just might be the next CEO of the redneck yacht club. Anchoring down this 1960 classic in party cove.I really look forward to getting this boat on the water next spring. It would be nice to hit the water this summer, but other things must come first.I do have a few ? that i need answered.Like what did this boat look like when it was new ,where i can find replacement parts,like a windshield,a engine mount,what size motor it came with ,where the stering was located,how many of these boats were built,is the company still in business today.I still need to replace the floors and walls in back end of the boat.This boat had 8 layers of paint on it ,this was a real job getting the paint off this boat.Well thats enough about the boat.Here is a little about me.I am 42 years old ,i enjoy the outdoors whether it be fishing,hunting,camping ect.The water is my favorite even if its just sitting on the bank looking at this great creation that god give us to enjoy,it beats a bad day working any time.I have 2 kids one is 10 years and the other is 8.I try to spend as much time with them as i can ,But i have to work and they have school.There is always summer time which we really make the best of. Staying in Reynolds Channel and back bays on Long Island's South Shore. I will hopefully be living aboard again soon. I found the club on Craig's List. Member: Capt. Vince I am a licensed ship's master, and I operate my Silverton 34C out of South Tom's River, New Jersey. I do most of my boating in Barnegat Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. I am an avid scuba diver and salt-water fisherman. Member: Mary I live in Pa near the second largest man made lake in Pa Lake Wallenpaupack. I do own a boat one that is laughed at by many! It has no windshield which is fine by me there is nothing greater than cruising across the lake with the wind in your hair and the water squirting your face. the boat doesn't look like much but she's mine and runs just fine. She prefers full throttel! Member: Adabelle Member: Another Bill I just discovered your site through a link on Wyandott YC web page. They are a member of the Associated Yacht Clubs which is a group of over 30 clubs within a 50 mi. radius of the Toledo Harbor Light in Lake Erie. I am a member and Past Commodre of River View Yacht Club in Toledo which was formed in 1949 much the way you established AVYC. We are all volunteer and proud to stay that way. I have been living in Port Clinton for the last 6 years on a canal with good access to Lake Erie with my wife, Joyce and am currently between boats after selling our 31 ft. Silverton. Hope to find another boat soon and get back on the Lake in our own boat. I have to admit i enjoy going out with friends on thier boats without having the attachment of the responsibility of maintenance but the other half of the equation is the friendship and fellowship that we all share on the Lake. I have just purchased my first boat after being some what of a FRP boat builder for the first ten years after leaving school in 1985 so im getting on, it only made sence for me to buy a boat too with a few years under it's belt. Getting my wife around this idea has not been to hard as she to loves to fish too. the boat I have chosen as my 1st is a old fiberglass hull wooden & fiberglass deck when I seen this boat I new it was the one for me. CABIN CRUISER 19FT Bertram I do not yet no what year it was built but I look forward to finding out? finding the club came easy with the help of Chalange Marine and web links. Our cruising area is from the border to Alaska on the west coast of Canada. And we have seen a big portion of that in the 14 years we have cruised here. Love to kayak, fish and explore. A happy hour at the end of the day with friends, a bottle of wine and fresh seafood is heaven on earth Member : Larry I have been interested in boats for some time. I recently purchased 2 sea rays; one is an 83 the other a 82, both are 270 sundancers. One is running the other needs repowering. I am a novice on this size of boats and am looking for any help possible. Member: CanoeBoy Joe Hello, My fav water is Barnegat Bay and the Pine Barrens down South Jersey way. Currently live in C-Springs area of Colorado. Have to travel to water at least 40 miles. I have 2 boats, an Old Town 16' canoe, and the"Terrapin", a Pelican 16' square stern with a 5hp B&S OB on the back. I have used the latter on the Pacific(Joe's adventures among the Californians), and here locally for fishing, hunting, and camping. Found you folks through Duckworks while looking for something to do this winter. Smallest is a stripplanked canoe. Mostly sailing boats. Boating is done mainly in Golden Bay (nearby). Love all bodies of water relaxing. Member: Briny Keyport, NJ on the Raritan Bay is where I'm at. My Bauer 10 sailing dinghy is about the prettiest, smallest and most used boat on the water. No wind?, no problem, I row, row, row my boat. Getting this boat got me off the couch, I'm on the water almost every day for about 3 hours after work and double that on weekends. Our last trip was this past spring, 35 days from Tampa,FL to Corpus Christi TX. in our "new" 1972 Gulfstar 36. We are planning to sail up the Tenn-Tom, Ohio, & Illinois to Chicago than back down the Mississippi this summer to escape Hurricane season. And perhaps in November down to the Dry Tortugas then into the Caribbean for the winter. Member: Ruth I own a Golden Hind 31, Maurice Griffith designed sloop built in Plymouth, UK. My partner and I sailed her back to the West Coast of Canada over 20 years ago and now I'm refurbishing her so that she can go on further deep sea cruises with a new owner. Then, if I'm not too exhausted I'd like to get about in a 12' sailing/rowing dinghy. Member: Boatchef I've been boating all my life. First on the Long Island Sound and Great South Bay as a child. After moving to CA in 1969 we've sailed teh San Francisco Bay, San Diego and we keep our Carver33 (gone to the dark side)on the Sacramento River. Fun boater-life boater!
