That's 4223, Elanora, Queensland, Australia. I found you thru being an faithful reader of BOATING mag. FBW the magnificent "boating all year round" Gold Coast. I have self built 30ft WestSystem sports cruiser, Epoxy over balsa strip plank, powered by OMC 5.8 litre stern drive. We fish the outer reefs in the southern Pacific, or inside a sheltered body of water called the 'Broadwater' - 50 miles long and 2 to 10 mile wide. Temp at 4pm at any time of the year, never more than 28degC or less than 18degC. We have an Indy car race here every year too. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has built a similar craft to mine using the West system methods. / Posted - Friday, April 27, 2001 ______________________________________________________ |
| Member: Grace We live on the West Coast of Canada (Vancouver area) and our favourite body of water is the Pacific in the Gulf Islands (Canada) or San Juan Islands on the coast of Washington. We are in our early 40's and own a 32' Bayliner and spend a lot of time on the water with a large group of Power Squadron members who have become like a second family to us. I found your website doing a search on the net for "nautical jokes". Looking forward to your newsletters! / Posted - Friday, April 27, 2001 ______________________________________________________ Thanks Grace I'll try not to let you down. Be sure and tell your Power Squadron friends about your new boatclub online! Jim |

| Member: Cliff Been a member for a few months now. I'm just working out the bugs in the rigging of my 7'9" Ruben's Nymph I built the fall of 2000. It's name is "Lamb Chop" because the rigging is classical "Leg-of-Mutton". That's right, the name of the rig design is called "Leg-of-Mutton". I had to rebuild the Daggerboard because the original design didn't take into consideration the possibility of hitting underwater obstructions. Naturally the first time out I hit an object probably doing 5 knots and busted the Daggerboard right off the side of the boat. The new design folds up and I made two one for each side. Right now I am sailing on an approxmately 100 acre un-named man made lake here in Central Florida. After I get all the bugs out of the rigging and my own personal skills improved I plan on trying larger lakes. |
