Do I have to own a boat to join A.V.Y.C.?
No, the All
Volunteer Yacht Club is for boaters and the nautical-at-heart. To say it
another way, if you love the water, there is something for you at AVYC . So if that's the case, either way, you are already a member. All that needs to happen is to get involved.

Why "All Volunteer" Yacht Club?
The name is
over 20 years old as explained in the AVYC Story Page. Beyond that it seemed to fit under
the format designed for this site. We knew that there was going to be a
newsletter. In the vernacular of the Web, Spamming is sending unsolicited
E-mail. Legal E-mail, which we broadcast, comes from a lists where people
Opt-in to receive a newsletter, they "Volunteer". So the name All
Volunteer fits nicely into the scheme of things and the bonus is, " All
Volunteer Yacht Club" sounds a little ironic.

Where do you find your nautical jokes?
Let's see, how to answer that one without
incrimination?
We try and
be very careful not to infringe upon anyone's copyrighted material. To start,
there are hundreds of nautical jokes out there that are in the "Public Domain".
So we use many of those (that are funny). Some members have and continue to
contribute jokes and we acknowledge those who do that. Other joke writers and
artists will contribute their work to our pages for links to their sites.
Also we build new jokes written by the crew of MyBoatClub.Com. Some are
brand new and others, we will take a situation, old punch lines and
non-nautical joke premises and re-write them into new jokes with a nautical
setting. It's more than just putting a non-nautical joke in a boat. To pull
this off one needs a keen sense of humor, an intuitive sense of timing , a
strong command of the English language and be a farley good spelter. We checked
and none of us possess any of those skills but we decided not to let it bother
us!
The only place we do
place a non-nautical joke in a boat is in our "Two Men in a Boat" pages of one liners.

Is this site safe for the whole family?

and we work hard to keep it that way. If at any time you find something on our
site that is inappropriate please Contact Us". We do not allow anyone to directly post
to the site for that reason. If at a future date we do open a forum it will be
monitored closely and will have some built in safeguards. We want this site to
be a family site and a safe place for all ages to visit and have
fun!
