Don making the best of it all!

Member Don of Oriental, NC says both of these photos were taken the 2nd time Dennis came in. Of note is that this was a salt water and not freshwater runoff. The surge was approximately 8 feet. In both photos the water has already begun to go down. At one point there was about another foot of water in Don's back yard. At this point he could smile about it but prior to the water beginning to recede it was scary. In the kayak scene there is about 3' of water on the road. This is the main road through town and Don had just used his dinghy w/8 hp Evinrude to get there.

Don lives in Coastal NC and spends weekends on the Pamlico Sound and surrounding waters. He learned to sail on an inland lake and prior to that he cruised the East Coast and Bahamas by sailboat.He currently owns a Cal 2-27 which he weekend cruises and race as well as a Sisu 22 which is a New England Lobster Boat.
