Murph On The High Seas! Murph on The High Seas
From Sunrise to Sunset - Member "Murph"
Freedom Under Sail These are pictures of "Freedom", the 1987 Tayana 52 Murph crewed from Oyster Bay, LI, NY to Bermuda, about 705 miles.

It took four days, from Saturday, Nov 2 to Wednesday, Nov 6. Gil, the owner/skipper was captain, navigator, and weather forecaster.

The three other crew stood 4 hour watches, 4 hours on, 8 hours off. Murph says It was a beautiful, wonderful sail! They beat a bad low pressure system by 18 hours, but boats behind them spent up to 8 hours in 45 knot winds and 20 foot seas!

Murph said that he was fortunate to serve the 4 - 8 watch, so he got to enjoy every sunrise and sunset on the trip which he particularly enjoyed.

Murph's salutation to the other members is:

Sail Fast, Live Slow.

Thanks Murph for sharing your pictures and story with us!
